DR. WOLF & GENESIS DENTAL GROUP UPDATE ON THE CORONAVIRUS 3/25/20

My team and I continue to respond to the current issues surrounding the Coronavirus. We would like to share some perspective on receiving dental care during this time.

As with any rapidly developing situation, we are working around the clock to disseminate new information and to always operate in the best interest of our patients and our communities. Our intention is to provide some fact-based education on dental care during these trying times and to be available to provide essential dentistry to those in need.

Dr. Wolf & Genesis Dental Group Best Practices:

  • Sterilizing all procedural instruments between patient use

  • Diligently cleaning and disinfecting all areas and surfaces, including door handles, countertops, phones, coffee machines, light switches, waiting and operatory furniture and rooms, walls, bathrooms, and other equipment multiple times each day with medical grade sanitizer

  • Washing hands frequently and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment

  • Ensuring employees who are ill or potentially exposed do not come to work

  • Rescheduling appointments for individuals who are experiencing symptoms of illness, have traveled in high-risk areas, or who have been exposed to COVID-19

What You Can Do: The Coronavirus as well as other viruses thrive in the nasal and oral cavities. We can’t stress enough the importance of at-home oral care, especially at this time. Stepping up your at-home oral routine will help you to mitigate the virus. We recommend the follow prevention guidelines:

  • Maintain good oral hygiene, brush twice a day, floss and rinse

  • Drink plenty of water

  • Rinse your mouth with Listerine or an alcohol-free over-the-counter mouth rinse for at least 30 seconds to kill all viruses and germs. For a more “natural” way, you can use warm salt water to rinse, as salt has natural antibacterial properties

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water and use hand sanitizer

  • Eat healthy foods

  • Maintain proper sleep habits

  • Wipe and disinfect all surfaces multiple times a day with disinfecting wipes. If you can’t get disinfecting wipes, hydrogen peroxide in a diluted form (0.5%) is effective against the coronavirus. Hydrogen peroxide should be left on surfaces for at least one minute before wiping

  • Stay at home if you are sick

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and throw the tissue away

  • Maintain “social distancing”

My team and I at Genesis Dental Group continue to monitor the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the American Dental Association (ADA) and the California Dental Association (CDA), as well as additional state and federal government updates and continue to keep our patients and team members health a top priority.
